Can money buy happiness?
Ayyy, Mates! 
Slate.com has this wicked article saying that money can buy happiness when you are young. Oh my! I can’t lie, I’ve enjoyed spending money on clothes, food, vacations, etc. However, when the bills come, it’s no fun. ARGHH!But this article says splurging can make you happy.
I think saving more would make me happy.
Does money buy happiness? Is it reckless to encourage you to spend cash to get joy? Do you agree with the article?

Makes sense – not just because of health, but the novelty of new money, less responsibility etc. My first paycheck at my mall record store job ($4.25/hour) brought more joy than my current salary.
I’m all about retirement savings, but I’m also trying to take a real vacation while a bikini body is within my reach.

ARRR! I also worked at a record store. There’s nothing like bringing home Dead or Alive’s “you spin me right round”. Darn, I’m getting old.
But happiness for me isn’t just about money. Happiness is the lack of worry about debt and the presence of good friends. And some new jewelry doesn’t hurt.
So ARR, I’m off to capture another ship, looking for doubloons. Arrr!

I think this might be connected to how parents tend to spoil their kids. If the money keeps them happy when they’re young. More young adults are still living with or off their parents.
I know this because I wasn’t fully weened off my parent’s moeny until I was 24.

It’s payday! Divvying money up amongst my savings accounts makes me v. v. happy!

Of course money can buy happiness. It’s called Walt Disney World. If you have enough money, they’ll make you as happy as you want!

arrgh, Methinks this is all too simple. Of course buying things makes you happy: that’s why advertisers make emotional, and not rational appeals to get you into stores and spending. And there’s nothing really wrong with that, as long as you’re spending within your means and not running up a lot of debt.

I rmember giving my husband a T-shirt that depicted a guy telling a girl, “Of course I know money can’t buy happiness. Happiness isn’t what I want to buy.” I loved it. He did too.

The only time I feel good shopping is when I know I got a really good bargain/deal. But I don’t shop to make myself happy because debt makes me sad/stressed.
