I almost jogged into my family room two weekends ago, drawn by this funky reggae bassline and a voice so strong and sweet.
Not too often am I so torn…anxious for the song to end so I could see who was belting out those excitement-provoking sounds while wanting time to slow down so I could truly savor every note and beat.
I was Jazmine Sullivan. Fresh look, vibrant colors in the lively video and a soulful sound that I knew I had to have.
I set out yesterday to grab the cd and made another rare stab…I purchased the whole cd after listening to just the first three cuts. Call it a leap of faith.
Absolute success. I have had it in constant play since.
You know how it is. The first single is the hottest, dropped to garner interest hoping for a purchase of the whole cd. Characterizing this grouping of cuts as following that marketing ploy is a flat untruth.
A gumbo of different types of sounds, each one seems to fit and then more decisions…to repeat that cut or let it go on to the next cut.

LOL…just check out the snippets on i-tunes. Hey…I can’t vouch for her not being another Mary (a studio artist) but the cd is tight.
