Sin City feeling the pain of the bad economy

Casinos are getting crappy revenue in this soft economy. I never thought gambling would suffer. If that’s not recession proof, what is anymore?  What are people doing for their bachelor and bachelorette parties?
According to the NY Post article:

Las Vegas and Atlantic City are suffering as they sit in the midst
of a perfect storm. Many of the high rollers from Asia who had fueled
big receipts at the major casinos have disappeared. They have started
to feel the pinch as their once-raging Asian economies are now
suffering major setbacks as economic slowdowns have brought their stock
markets down to two-year lows…

High gas prices also contributed to the downturn in Atlantic City
and Las Vegas. The cost of filling up the tank was just too much for
many gamblers who chose to stay home instead. The decrease in flights
to and from Las Vegas also hurt the usually bustling gaming town.

It’s like the multiplier effect.

Do you gamble? Have you been to Sin City? Have you cut back your travel because of the economy?

We go to Vegas every year and this year will be no exception (going in November). We like to see the shows (particularly Cirque du Soleil), go to the spa and gamble a little.
I keep saying I should cut back on travel but there’s always somewhere interesting to go. Cutting back on dining out is much easier :-)

I do not gamble at all and I have never been to sin city. I don’t feel like I cut back any travel expenses because of the economy but I know it has hit some people really hard and traveling is just not an option.

I was just in Vegas last week…and sadly it’s probably the last time I will go until 2009.
1. Because the economy sucks.
2. I go to Vegas on average 4 times a year so I feel like I need to take a year off and IF I travel, go to places I’ve never been before.
As far as gambling, I actually did okay, not as good as I usually do. I mostly did sports gambling so I’m down $7…on the slot machines I’m down $25…so not a huge loss…not a loss I can’t live with.

I’ll gamble, but not more than $25 or so. If I don’t see winnings fast enough, I transfer to the cheap machines located at the bar where I can easily drink for free.
Never been to Vegas & probably won’t be going anytime soon. I thought I’d be in a better position to travel more this year, but airfares are sky high. I’ll maintain my normal level of travel.

Savvy-Yes, dining out is a budget buster.
PJD-Aw, you’re so innocent and sweet.

I’ve never been, and I don’t gamble at all. My mom and aunts have taken two group trips there. They policed each other when gambling and just hit up buffets mentioned on the food network.
