I’ve waited weeks to do this post, but I am so happy I can do it, now! America’s new First Lady is a Frugalista! Although Michelle and Barack Obama are millionaires, our new First Lady shops off-the-rack. White House/Black Market and J.Crew clothing are in her wardrobe. Yay! And she closet shops. What she buys, she wears again! The canary yellow cardigan she wore on an interview on the Tonight Show; she wore it again about a week later at a campaign stop.
Indeed, for some people, J.Crew may be a bit expensive, and I understand. I’m more J.Crew Outlet, and I’m content with that. However, we will have a First Lady who we could potentially see at the mall ! She’s one of us. If I catch her in anything from Banana Republic or Marshall’s, I’m going to pass out.
I am a sucker for First Lady fashion. I’ve been following the Mrs. O blog ,to get the latest fashion scoop from the road. I think Cindy McCain was impeccably dressed during the campaign, but I know I won’t be wearing $300,000 worth of garb any time soon. But, a $150 day dress like Michelle wore on The View, is more feasible! Laura Bush had a penchant for Oscar de la Renta., which is just appropriate for her. I have loved Jackie O.’s fashion, and thought she represented America well. Now, I can’t wait to see what else Shelley O. is going to do fashion wise.
Frugalistas stand up!
Please tell me some of your great fashion buys! You know, the one outfit or clothing item you bought that you can wear a million ways. Or the great deal you found. Any thrifters out there?
