The Got Milk? campaign is hitting South Florida all this week. Today, the camp is at Bayfront Park in downtown Miami from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free milk tastings and massages. Oh my! I may have to stop by.

Hello! Due to the bad economy, high school seniors are opting out of four-year colleges and going to community colleges or considering going to the military to save money.
• Scholarships trump school status.
Roughly 57 percent of college-bound students are considering a less
prestigious institution because of affordability, according to an
October study by MeritAid.com, a scholarship-finding website.
• Delaying college for at least a year isn't out of the question.
Some 16 percent of students are putting college on hold because they
don't think they will be able to afford it, the MeritAid.com research
shows.
• The military is, more than ever, a viable option to pay for college.
Terry Howell, managing editor of military.com, a website for the armed
forces, says the number of Google searches for the site's military
aptitude practice test tripled between December 2007 and December 2008.
• Community colleges and trade schools deserve a second look.
Both types of schools are seeing spikes in enrollment from students of
all ages looking for cheaper — and quicker — educations. Community
colleges are reporting unprecedented enrollment increases, according to
the American Association of Community Colleges. Enrollment in technical
schools is at an all-time high, says the Association for Career and
Technical Education.

Swedish Countess Marie Douglas-David and her super-rich hubby former United Technologies CEO George David are having a big, fat, financially messy divorce. Douglas-David, 36, is demanding $100 million from her estranged hubby. She signed a pre-nuptial agreement for $38 million and that's just not enough for her to live on. She needs $53,000 a week to live, Douglas-David says.
Her husband is worth $329 million.

Aw. Victory Living Programs in Fort Lauderdale, which gives training and guidance to people with disabilities is in the middle of a "stay-at-home gala." Instead of holding a big function to raise money for its programs, people can stay at home and bid on auction items on the Internet. The fundraiser ends at 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Oh my! Holding an Internet auction is one way to save money. I found this article from U.S.A. Today about how charities are hit hard by this poor economy. Some charities are worried about having to cut services to their clients, which is sad.
However, on the good side of things, more people who are jobless are volunteering to work with charities. Indeed, there are always those who are less fortunate than you!
