Countess demands $100 million in divorce

by frugalista on March 25, 2009

It's being called the Divorce of the Depression.

Swedish Countess Marie Douglas-David and her super-rich hubby former United Technologies CEO George David are having a big, fat, financially messy divorce. Douglas-David, 36, is demanding $100 million from her estranged hubby. She signed a pre-nuptial agreement for $38 million and that's just not enough for her to live on. She needs $53,000 a week to live, Douglas-David says.

Her husband is worth $329 million.

Could you survive off $43 million? Is Douglas-David gold digging? Should her husband just give her the $100 million? What do you think about her spending $53,000 per week?  Why do I get the feeling she'll be an extra on The Real Housewives of New York next season?
