Rapper Rick Ross busted in fake Louis Vuitton shades

by frugalista on May 12, 2009

Rickrosscover Oh my! How embarrassing!  Platinum-selling rapper Rick Ross was called out by Louis Vuitton for wearing counterfeit sun glasses on the cover of XXL Magazine,

Here's is the letter from Louis Vuitton to XXL :

Dear Editor:

We were dismayed to see the cover of the May 2009 issue of XXL Magazine, which features a photo of Rick Ross wearing a pair of sunglasses prominently featuring counterfeit Louis Vuitton trademarks. Because the photo has generated considerable confusion among your readers and Louis Vuitton customers among others, we feel it is important to clarify several points.

The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to correct the confusion.

Sincerely,

Michael D. Pantalony, Esq.
Louis Vuitton Malletieru
I'm not a fan of knock offs. I have a pair of Gucci shades I bought from Saks 5th Avenue OFF 5th for like $60. LV shades run from $290 to $1,200. I mean, Mr. Ross SHOULD be able to afford a good pair. Hmm.
Do you wear fake designer goods? Do you shop on Canal Street in New York? I hate that plastic smell in the stores there. Meh.   Rick Ross is signed to Def Jam. Are they not paying that man? I hear that the music industry is suffering. Is the flea market is the only place Ross can afford to shop? Do you think Ray-Bans would have been a better choice?
