Hello, Frugalistas! MasterCard launched a new program called Mastercard Savings that allows debit and prepaid cardholders discounts with certain merchants. The prepaid card looks like a gift card, but it's different because you can keep loading it with money.
The cardholders have to enroll in the MasterCard Savings program hook ups at savings.mastercard.com. Once you sign up, you choose what type of merchants you would prefer for your discounts. When I enrolled, I picked apparel for sure. Among the stores where MasterCard Savings enrollees can get discounts are Lands End, Armani Exchange and The Container Store. The discounts range from 5 percent to 20 percent. Some offer free shipping.
The prepaid card is like a mobile bank account. It even has some fees just like banks do, so be careful.
Another warning: It cost $9.95 to purchase the prepaid card and $9.95 to activate it.
If you would like to be considered to win one of four $25 prepaid MasterCards, please leave a comment with your email below on what you would do with the money.
These giveaway cards have no activation fee. Yay!

I would load the card with a few extra dollars a week to use for family outings. My husband and I are making an effort to really explore our city with our 2 kids.
Hey Nat!
Or maybe I’d use it for gas and drive down to the Keys!
Since I just moved to Miami I would use it to try a new fabulous restaurant……so many choices
I WILL USE THE $25.00 TOWARDS GAS.AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND WITH THE GAS PRICES GOING UP. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO BORROW MONEY TO PUT GAS IN MY CAR TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK
I would definitely use the money to treat myself to dinner and a movie. With the ridiculous cost of gas, bills, taking care of my 3-year old, and trying to keep current on my student loans, I don’t have the discretionary income to do anything for myself. This would definitely be a treat for me!
Take my little ones to the zoo this summer. They love animals and would love to spend the day there wuth my two beatiful princesses. I am a teacher so money is tight.
I would give the prepaid card to someone in need. I know so many people who are struggling and going underwater in the current economy. I already have everything I need even if I don’t have a lot of money.
It isn’t enough money to solve any big crisis, but it sure would make someone’s day.

Container Store – man, that place is like a crackhouse – I always leave there with an empty wallet!

This seems like a really cool site for people to recieve discounts for everyday purchases. Just read about it and you receive discount on more than 25,000 stores.
I have a MasterCard Debit card so this is a no brainer.
I would use it to rent a movie and order a pizza and have a fun at home night….
My daughter is graduating and off to college in September. This is a nice way to help start her off. More importantly, it would great to help her avoid the credit card sign up tables on campus by having a branded card already in hand. The logic I would present is think of it as prepaying your credit card bill.
I will take my daughter to the Children’s Museum— hook me up !!!
Thank you sooooooooooo much for visiting the station today and talking to our employees. I will be sending you fun info as I come across it.
Have a great day! Christina
P.S. If I will the card I will try a new dessert at a new restaurant. I’ll share with my husband…maybe.
two of my daughters just had babies and i was put on 50% salary (which i will last about 30 days) or untill rent is do, but my Grandchildren will need so much i will use it on them.
thanks for this opptunity

I would use it to put gas in my car!
I would donate them to my churches IHN-Interfaith Hospitality Network which houses homeless families at the church from our county for a week at a time.
I love to bake so I would use the $25 to buy ingredients to bake a new dessert that I’ve wanted to try! I figure it would be a good way to treat myself to something sweet that’s affordable.
I would use the card to purchase supplies for my 2nd grade classroom for the fall. So many of my students come to school without something as simple as a pencil. I would stock up on crayons, packs of paper, and pencils.
I would use for any online purchases I make. I know the sites are suppose to be secure but never feel totally safe. This would seem to limit the risk.
Honestly I would use it to buy a few pick me up like shampoo. I know that sounds crazy but I have been in frugal mode using the cheapest products on my hair and it shows..so an unplanned $25 would go towards my hair.
I would say I would probably use this at Kohl’s – With $25 I could get a whole new summer wardrobe for my 4 year old and probably 50% of my 1 year olds…with discounts you can get shorts and Ts for under $1…now that is FRUGAL!!
frugie, thanks for the contest opportunity!
I would use the $25.00 to pay off credit card debt and bills. I want to escape the finance rate charges on my credit cards as soon as possible!
Paying down the debt in the answer.
Honestly, Frugalista, in an effort to reduce costs and watch my bank account, I haven’t gotten my hair done in months.
I’ve also almost run myself ragged with the shows I’m working on, and as a person in theatre, that means my appearance is suffering.
Since my grooming is essential to continuing to get theatre work, it’s time I had my hair cut and conditioned. The extra $25 would mean I could go into the shop instead of just drive by.
I would use it to treat my wife to lunch on Las Olas like the Samba Room or Yolo — Lord knows she is tired me me taking her to places that have golden arches.
The person who is like a Dad in my life (and like a dad is a real category at Hallmark) recently had to take a $5,200 pay cut. His one vice is movies…he LOVES to buy DVD’s…mostly classic black and white movies re-released. To make up for the loss of income he said he won’t be buying DVD’s…or books…less trips to Trader Joe’s, etc., etc among his list of other cost cutting measures. So with the $25 I would buy him some DVD’s for Father’s Day.
I’m a full time student so I’d use the money either for groceries or gas.
Replacement blades for my Gillette Mach-3. Because pound for pound, those damn things are some of the priciest items I buy. And I hardly ever find coupons for them or even a decent sales price
I am traveling to Ft. Lauderdale in a few weeks to visit my mom, sister and 84 year old Great Uncle who all live there. My mom is just starting treatments for Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. My sister may be going through a divorce and she has a 15 month daughter who I haven’t seen since Christmas. And my uncle can’t really live by himself anymore but refuses assisted living. I don’t really have much money but I want to be there for all of them right now. So I would use the money to help pay for my trip–maybe to share a meal with all of them.
