Shouts out to Katy Fierce at The Non-Consumer Advocate  for the tip that more than 120 cities will offer free theater performances across the nation on Oct. 15. You can start ordering online tickets on Thursday.

What's your favorite play/ I love Rent. Like, seriously, I can recite all the lyrics. Do you like live performances?

Ok, so the other day, I put on my favorite, red silk skirt. It's my tried-and-true show stopper. I've had it about four years. I just knew I'd get lots of compliments on it. As I sauntered on the streets on South Florida, I noticed something: THE HEM WAS GONE. Gah!

The other day, I put on my favorite strappy heels. I noticed something else: THE HEEL LOOKED LIKE A GERBIL GNAWED ON IT.

I normally get my eyebrows waxed and then do in-between maintenance at home. Well, I've been a bit overwhelmed lately and the stray-hair plucking went by the wayside. Let's just say Groucho has NOTHING on me these days. I need to book an appointment. Like yesterday.

Being frugal is an awesome way to live. It allows you to spend money on what really matters to you and not fritter away your cash. However,  roaming about the countryside (ok, urban streets) without your basic fly girl grooming needs being met is not hot.

What's the point of saving money by wearing something from your closet if the clothes or shoes don't look up to standard?  Seamstresses, cobblers and professional eye waxers may be your friend. I know how to sew on a button, but I don't trust myself to restore my skirt's hem. Such is life.

Please take this as a public service announcement. Keep up the fab. I learned the hard way!

Have you made a frugal investment lately?

Chick-fil-A_Meal

Hello! I got this tip from my good friend, Jasmine, at WFOR CBS-4.  This freebie is only good for Broward and Miami-Dade counties, aka flip-flops-in-December peeps. :) Also, it's only good for FAMILIES, so bring the kiddies. Today is Family Day at Chick-fil-A and you can receive a free meal with the purchase of a meal.

Coupon-codes

Coupon Sherpa, which is an iPhone application to find deals is now its own website. The Coupon Sherpa site offers up shopping codes and coupons for online shopping.  A sherpa is a member of a Tibetan people known for providing support for mountain climbers in the Himalayas. On the site, you can find hook ups on everything from groceries to eyeglasses.

The site was founded by Luke and Jesse Knowles, who are building a frugal living empire. They have already created a
family of cartoon characters named “The Frugals” to promote their
network of frugality sites.

I normally check out retailmenot for my online coupon codes, but I will most certainly give Coupon Sherpa a whirl.

How do you find deals? Do you look in newspapers? Have you used the iPhone application? Have you been to the Himalayas?

Newsweek_LogoLo

Newsweek has a list of the greenest companies in its latest edition. Yay! Hewett-Packard came in first overall with Dell second. Who knew?  Green jobs are all the rages these days, so even if you can't be a wind project developer, I think it couldn't hurt to at least work for a company that has a decent carbon footprint.  That is, IF you can find a job. :(

Would it matter to you if your company had a sustainable work environment? What do you think about the list? How green are you?

Here are some websites if you want to learn more about how to improve your credit score. You need good credit to get decent rates on cars, mortgages and insurance . You even need good credit for certain jobs. To get the best rates, a score of more than 700 is all the rage.

Do you want to work on your credit score? How is your credit score looking?

DDress

Valerie Elizabeth vowed to go a month wearing the same little black dress, showing off different looks you can make with the same item. OMG, she did a FANTASTIC job. True, she's a Dallas stylist so she's a pro at it, but I was definitely inspired by the unique looks she created for 31 days.

The Today Show website has a slide show of her different looks for each day. One thing I noticed was that she makes great use of scarves and shawls, almost using them like a jacket. Also, she is awesome at finding funky accessories, taking the focus off the "little black dress." Also, she threw leggings or pants on underneath the dress a few times, turning it into a shirt.

I'm a big fan of "closet shopping," making use of what you own and being creative about making it look new. Valerie Elizabeth is the QUEEN!

What do you think about the experiment? Do you think that she did a good job? What look did you like? Is it just a gimmick? Do you think she was able to create the looks because she spent a lot of money on accessories?

Hi, Gang. My fall is heating up and I love it!

*For my Miami peeps, I will be a speaker at a Women's Empowerment Conference this Saturday.

*I am on pages 17 and 57 in the October edition of Ebony. I wrote an article, and it got published! Yay! I'm so happy that Whitney Houston is on the cover because I know that that edition will sell a lot!

*I am a speaker at the Blogalicious conference Oct. 9-11 in Atlanta. It's at the W hotel. So chic! It will be full of girl power. I can't wait. Come join the fun if you can.

That is all. Let me know what you're doing! I haven't checked in with you all in a while. New jobs? Loves? Hustles? Recipes? Paid off the credit card? Did you hear Whitney on Good Morning America? Not quite the same, right?
