So, I had an awesome time at #dealchat, my 8 p.m. saving-money party on Twitter, last night. This week’s topic was money-saving websites. We started out chatting about our favorite personal finance sites, blogs, and calculators. Then, we just had a conversation about money, living and life. Here is the transcript.
Some #dealchat Highlights:
1) Check your credit report at least once a year at annualcreditreport.com.
2) Before getting a credit card, check out its standing/rating at http://www.creditcardconnection.org.
3) shoeboxed.com is good for managing receipts! Several chatters mentioned it!
It’s rare that you get to have a raw conversation about financial literacy. A lot of us want it, but too many of us don’t have it. I work at getting better at managing my money every day. It’s worthwhile, but it’s not always the easiest. Hopefully, by sharing the right information, we all can do a little better with our money. There are so many charlatans out there. It was really nice to gather a good group of people who want to do things better.
To help with the chat, I recruited some awesome #dealchat guests who are leaders in online personal finance: @gingerlatte from girlsjustwannahavefunds, @clagett, an investor at financial site Geezeo.com , @moneymonk from moneymonk.net and @cozywallet from cozywallet.com
What are your favorite personal finance sites? What do you think about that Frugalista woman? Gotta watch her, I say. 😉
