Free Wifi at Starbucks

June 15, 2010 by frugalista divider image

OMG! Y’all know I have a Panera free wifi addiction, and now Starbucks has decided to join the movement. Starting July 1, you can log on for gratis at the coffee giant.

Latte v. Bread! Panera has better food but Starbucks has the java! And don’t forget about McDonald’s being in the free wifi game. I love Mickey D’s fries. Please don’t tell my arteries!

Team Starbucks or Team Panera? Or do you have another free wifi spot? Talk to me!

  • Team Panera has done me wrong by continually removing my favorite menu items, but I’ll still side with them over Starbucks.

For too many years Starbucks has been attempting to fleece it’s customers by demanding they pay for wifi. They’re a bunch of jerks, and I for one will not patronize them now that they’ve finally jumped on board.

Like an elephant, I never forget. So, for Starbucks, it’s a too little, too late. (I do wonder what took them so long, though. Starucks is the official coffee chain of Barnes & Noble, and B&N offers free wifi. Any Starbucks locations inside B&Ns certainly weren’t getting any customers for their wifi. Not to mention, I know of at least three Starbucks next door to places that offer free wifi, and they often have little business. Or people would grab a coffee there and walk across the street for wifi).

  • Rasheeda: I was wondering what took them so long also. That free wifi they had at Barnes & Noble was an outright joke. I could get better reception using a wire hanger. This is big news because Starbucks is such a major chain, but they are behind the ball on this one.
