Baltimore Sun blogger Christopher E. Nelson quoted me in a great post about spending diets. Every February , I make an effort, either a week or a month, to seriously deprive myself of spending. I find that it disciplines me and makes me financially focused for the rest of the year.
For two years, I didn’t spend on anything extra for one month. This year, I did a “Dine In Week”, and refused to order take out. How much have I saved during those spending fasts? About $1,000 total! Viva la Frugalista!
I think I’m a better woman for it. Nelson tackles the pros and cons of spending diets.
Would you ever go on a spending fast? If so, how much did you save? If not, why not?
