I have a confession to make. I commit mild acts of deal sneaking. Yes, me! Of course, I will share with you all most deals that I find – from free mascara to free coffee. But I must admit that there have been a few times that I withheld great info until I could check out the deals for myself. And I am a frugal blogger!
For instance, I found out about a coupon code and sale at Annie Sez from blogger Ms Career Girl. No, I didn’t tweet it out immediately. I went to the Annie Sez site, found a dress that I liked in my size and bought it. Only after I got what I wanted did I share.
Another time, I found out about a cool spot in Miami to do some nice thrift shopping. I haven’t shared it with anyone, not even my friends, because I have yet to check it out for myself.
During a recent #dealchat on consignment shopping that I did on Twitter, a few folks people confessed keeping from others where they got great outfits. You know, the old “I got this dress in New York.” Oh my! Also, the guest expert, Jeanne Nicholson of consignment shop Second Time Around, said that she’s seen women put clothing from her store in a different bag than the STA bag after shopping. I don’t think it’s just because they don’t want people to know that they shop consignment. I think those women don’t want to let other people in on the deals!
Now, I share. Really, I do. I just make sure to wait until I check out the scene *sometimes* before I share. It’s a jungle out there!
Am I a bad person for being a deal sneak? Am I stingy? Competitive? Have you ever participated in deal sneaking?

Sometimes! One our favorite places for deals closed and left us heart broken for almost a year. My husband told us it’s because we kept it too good of a secret.
I have to admit I would totally do that. Sometimes you do want to get the best things for yourself first. I do share afterwards though.
As much as I love supporting and sharing with other women, I must admit I have held back on sale news. Well, only until I see if my size was available and how many they have left. Hey, finding designer shoes at deep discounts is hard to do. But, if I have no intention of buying anything that day or at all, I would rather someone else I know (whether in person or through social media) get the deal.
