Catherine Malandrino for Kohl’s

by frugalista on September 19, 2013

catherine_malandrino_dressHey Frugs! Fashion designer Catherine Malandrino has a ready-to-wear line, Catherine Malandrino for DesigNation, coming to Kohl’s at the end of the month. You may pre-order some of the items in the line now.

I wanted to show you a few of the looks in case you wanted to order. I think the Paris-inspired line is beautiful and priced appropriately. I cringe a bit when I hear about high-end designers doing affordable fashion lines. I feel like the fashion designers “phone it in” and the prices aren’t that great. Catherine Malandrino appeared to take the Kohl’s line seriously. Viva la Frugalista!

As an FYI, pre-sale shoppers will receive a $10 off in-store e-coupon with purchase valid only on Sept. 27, when the full DesigNation collection launches. Use may use the coupon towards purchases of $10 or more

Anyway, below are a few pieces that I edited from the look book that are Frugalista friendly.

Catherine Malandrino for DesigNation Line at Kohl’s

Pleated jumpsuit for $88. It comes in the colors midnight and noir. This is good for a date night or as a Friday work outfit.

This $48 ponte side zip shirt is good for looking chic at work. I would pair this top with slim-fitting pants. It’s a modern take on the classic white blouse.

I just like these two paired together (sweater, $68 and sweater skirt, $50), although you may wear them separately. Mixed patterns are so much fun. Wear this if you need to look respectable, but you don’t want to look frumpy. Classy family outings would work nicely.

This cutout shift dress for $88 may be worn to after-work events when you want to make a statement. Think openings of photo exhibits, happy hours at luxury hotels and art galleries.

There are a few other nice pieces from the Catherine Malandrino for DesigNation at Kohl’s line that I liked, but these made the most sense for the Frugalista lifestyle. Because the affordable line is Paris-inspired she has quite a few pieces that were blatantly Parisian. I’m not sure I want you all walking around with the word “Paris” on your sweater or the Eiffel Tower on the back of your dress. Your call!

What do you think about the Catherine Malandrino DesigNation line at Kohl’s? Pretty? Awful? How does the line rank in terms of fashion designers’ affordable fashion lines? Is it just me, or does the model look just like the designer? LOL
